Interesting Quote

I Timothy 2: 10 "Therefore I am enduring all because of those who are chosen, that they also may be happening upon the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with glory eonian." What? If one is chosen, isn't salvation automatic? "May be happening upon" sounds sort of iffy.
